This blog was started, and is intended to illustrate that environmentalism happens through small acts, is not difficult, and that it does not always have to be some big life changing event that forces you to live in the tree tops with no electricity. All that being said, one of my small acts was to start this blog to gain some friends to help me save the world.

Bread

Bread is good.  Bread is delicious.  Wow this is starting off to be a great post.  Let me try again, I could never go on a low carb or no card diet, that is just crazy talk.  But I do get peoples concerns about the packaging of store bought bread.  While out snooping through some other blogs, I came across an article that described how a family was limiting their bread consumption because of the plastic bags that come with the bread.  Their alternative was to make their own bread.  Now while this is a bloody brilliant idea, I do love homemade bread and hope they share some with me, I would like to mention that the awful plastic that comes with store bough bread can be recycled.  I have referenced this site before, but will do it again, because I think it bears a second call out. http://www.plasticbagrecycling.org/plasticbag/s01_consumers.html  And while I am all for making your own, it is so much better for many reasons, I know that there will be times when you will need to buy some bread.  We just have to remember to recycle that pesky bag, and let some of the store bought guilt melt away.  So friends enjoy your bread, recycle your plastic, and if you are making any homemade bread please think of me and send some my way :)

OK quick side note.  THE REST OF THIS MESSAGE WILL BE IN CAPS, BECAUSE YES I AM YELLING.  PLEASE STOP KILLING SNAKES.  ONLY STUPID PEOPLE KILL THINGS THAT POSE NO THREAT, SO DEAL WITH THAT, YOU ARE STUPID IF YOU KILL HARMLESS, SMALL, LITTLE SNAKES.  JUST STOP IT.  PLEASE I DO NOT WANT TO SAY THIS AGAIN.  THANK YOU.

Also another side note, got 10% off a bill last night at the pizza place because I took my own take home container.  Feels good.  Alright I am finished now.

We have already discussed this...

...but I recently read that there is little to no regulation over bottled water.  What does that mean?  In the US, it is probably safer (and cheaper) to drink tap water, since the water in water bottles is not checked or regulated in anyway.  Sure some people can catch their water on fire, scary, but most cannot.  So get one of those filters and a reusable water bottle and save yourself some time and money buying those lame disposable water bottles.  If the water is the same then what the heck is the difference.

Now here is a side note.  I have discovered another way to that I am going to try help the planet, my pockets, and my home.  I am giving up greeting cards.  I know, gasp, how in the world can I do that?  Well it is simple really, I just will (or at least try).  First off, in my short time on this Earth I have kept most of the birthday, holiday, and whatever other reason you get them, cards I have received.  That adds up, and takes up a lot of space.  Now call me a hoarder, but I prefer sentimental, but if someone gives me a card I  do not feel right getting rid of it.  So there is reason one, to save space.  Reason two, they are expensive and seem to be getting more expensive.  And lastly, the less I buy the less paper that has to be processed and made.  Now I know I probably will never be totally free of greeting cards, but I will make a sincere effort to reduce the amount of greeting cards a receive (you can thank me later family) and buy.   Some people may call me crazy, but most already do so no change there.  Like I always say it is the small things.  If we do enough those small things add up to make big changes.

Also please please please keep signing the petition, we are so very close.  Thank you.
